Gwalia Housing Trust donates new kits to Cimla Girls Football Club
The Gwalia Housing Trust donated £500 to the Cimla Girls Football Club. Cimla AFC was founded in 1985 by parents to give children in the community the chance to play football. The team has been running for three years but they did not have matching football kits.
The all girl football team were playing in different shorts and t-shirts loaned from the boy's team but now they have a matching team uniform to be proud of.
The girl's football team won 7-1 in their first league game wearing their new kits. The girl's are thrilled especially as this is the first time all the players have their own kits and makes them feel like more of a team. The new kits have made the girls feel that they are now being taken seriously as a football team and has motivated them to arrange sponsored events to raise money themselves in order to purchase team sweatshirts.
Karen Phillips, Cimla AFC Girls Football Manager said " I have never been more proud of the girls as 4 years ago when they first started; they were finishing at the bottom of the league due to losing most of their matches. Now however, they have improved year after year finishing 4th last year winning 12 out of their 18 games last year. With their new kits they both look and feel far more professional".
